Murder charges have been filed in connection with the October 2017 fatal shooting of Marco Green in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
William L. Johnson, dob: 7/8/1990, faces Murder 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records filed today, Kansas City police were dispatched on Oct. 8, 2017, to the 7600 block of Monroe Avenue on a shooting. The victim, who was transported to the hospital, where he later died. The Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office ruled it a homicide. Video of the area captured the victmi's vehicle followed by a Black Nissan Altima. The victim is seen exiting his vehicle and approaching the Nissan. A short time later a muzzle flash is seen coming from the rear driver's area of the Nissan. Several shell casings were located and recovered. Police detectives connected the vehicle to the defendant. Detectives learned that the defendant had reportedly fled to Kansas. Detectives searched a piece of property in Kansas where the defendant was known to fire weapons. Tests of shell casings from the property matched shell casings removed from the crime scene. Another witness identified the defendant as being in the Nissan on the day of the fatal shooting.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $500,000. The defendant is not currently in custody.
