A Kansas City man, 18, faces felony criminal charges in connection with the Dec. 11, 2022, fatal shooting of Robert Butler outside an Independence residence, Jackson County Proseuctor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Vyshon D Wilson, dob: 10/12/2004, faces Murder in the 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, Independence police were dispatched to the 4600 block of Brentwood on Dec. 11, 2022, regarding a shooting. Officers found the victim, later identified as Robert G. Butler Jr, in front of the residence. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. A witness told police who shot the victim. Other witnesses at the scene verified the suspect had been at the residence for a small party. After the suspect shot the victim, he fled the scene and dropped a cell phone at the scene. .
The defendant was not in custody but Independence police have asked the public for help in locating him.
