A Kansas City man has been charged today with firing a weapon into the Waldo Bar and a south KC convenience store in the early morning Wednesday, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Wesley G. Barnes, dob: 5/2/1983, faces two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records a man entered the Waldo Bar, near 75th and Wornall Road, about 1 a.m. and asked the bartender if police were around. He pulled out a handgun and placed it on the bar. He said he was a federal agent. The bartender asked him to leave, so he retrieved the gun and walked out. He got into a white Audi A4, the doorman noted. Seconds later, the people inside the bar heard gunshots. About a half hour later, at the QuikTrip near 103rd and Wornall Road, several shots were fired, while several people were inside or at the gas pumps. Police traced the suspect through a credit car he presented at the bar with the name of his wife.
Prosecutors requested a $200,000 bond.
