A 28-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with an attempted armed robbery of a Raytown convenience store on New Years Eve, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Jerry L. Williams III, dob: 4/16/1989, faced Attempted Robbery in the 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Aciton.*
According to court records, Raytown police responded to a reported robbery at a convenience store on 350 Highway about 10:30 p.m. They surrounded the area and found the suspect nearby. The suspect was taken into custody after he was found lying under a greet in the area of 68th Terrace. Witnesses identified the suspect as the man, armed with a handgun, who fled from the store after attempting to rob it. Raytown police also found a gun and a gun magazine. Video surveillance from the store showed the defendant as the person who attempted the robbery.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $50,000 cash.
