A Kansas City man and woman now have been charged in connection with a knife assault on Aug. 5, 2024, on a KCATA public bus as it ran its route with multiple passengers, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Shaunte L. Washington faces Assault in the 1st Degree and Mohummah S. Baker faces Assault in the 1st Degree.*
According to court records, the female defendant boarded a KCATA bus and began wielding a knife and making threatening stabbing motions toward another female passenger. The victim confronted the defendant and the second defendant struck the victim several times with a fist. The female defendant then began stabbing the victim. One stab wound severed an artery.
Prosecutors asked for $75,000/10 percent bonds for each defendant..
