A Kansas City, Kan., man has been charged with kidnapping in connection with the April 3 disappearance of Cristian Escutia in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Maro A. Sosa-Perea, dob: 9/6/1995, faces Kidnapping, a Class B felony, and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, the victim was last seen in the area of 3rd and Chelsea Avenue and an unknown man was pointing a gun at him, demanding he get into a light blue Chrysler Pacifica. A witness told police that the defendant had said he was driving the vehicle Monday when the victim was kidnapped. They forced him out of the vehicle in Kansas City, Kan., and fired shots at him.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $150,000 cash. The defendant remains at large, and this case remains under investigation.
