Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson today announced charges against an Independence, MO man for a fatal stabbing that occurred at a business in Independence.

According to court records, Independence police were dispatched to a car wash in Independence on Sept. 19 and located the victim with a stab wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Based on witness reports and surveillance footage, an argument started between the defendant and victim at a different location than where the victim was found. The defendant stabbed the victim, and the victim entered the front passenger seat of a nearby vehicle, which drove away.
The defendant is being held on a $250,000 cash only bond.
*Charges are only accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until the defendant is either found guilty or pleads guilty.
