A Jackson County jury late Monday recommended up to 25 years in prison for one of the defendants in the 2015 Bay Water Park murder of 14-year-old girl, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Ce-Antonyo D. Kennedy was found guilty Friday in the murder of Alexis Kane. The jury returned Monday to recommend a sentence. They recommended 15 years on the Murder 2nd Degree conviction and 10 years on the Armed Criminal Action. A judge will set the sentence on May 31. The prosecutor's office will request the sentences run consecutively.
Kennedy, dob: 8/16/1997, is the third of three co-defendants who has been convicted in the murder. A Jackson County jury found Issac M. Carter, dob: 2/1/1997, and Dominic McDaniel earlier pleaded guilty.
According to court records, witnesses saw the victim get into a white Chrysler with two unknown males. Surveillance video from The Bay Waterpark revealed a similar-looking vehicle stop in the parking lot where the victim was discovered on Jan. 11, 2015 in the early morning. The video captured the victim being assaulted and shot.
