A Kansas City man faces multiple felony charges in connection with a June 2024, fatal shooting of a woman found in the grass near a Kansas City street, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced tonight.
Richard Gerard Harris Jr faces Murder 2nd Degree, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, three counts of Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Tampering with a Motor Vehicle.*
According to court records, Kansas City police officers were dispatched June 17, 2024, to the area of 3200 E. Linwood and found a woman in the grass near a road. The woman later died and the death was ruled a homicide. A witness told detectives that a man later identified as the defendant shot the victim. Surveillance video captured the suspect shooting the victim.
Prosecutors requested a $500,000 cash-only bond.
