A Kansas City, MO, man has been charged in the Oct. 3, 2024 fatal shooting of a man outside a residence in the area of 53rd and College Avenue, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
D'aires J. Gadson faces Murder in the 2nd Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.*
According to court records filed this afternoon, on October 3, 2024, Kansas City Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of 53rd and College Avenue on a reported shooting. At the scene, emergency responders declared the victim deceased. Detectives viewed video surveillance that showed the suspect pull a handgun and start shooting at the victim. In an interview with police, the defendant said he went to the victim's residence, armed with a rifle.
The defendant is being held on no bond.
