A Jackson County jury on Wednesday convicted a Kansas City man of multiple felonies for a brutal beating in a Kansas City store that included pointing at a gun at the victim's head and pulling the trigger, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
The jury convicted Lydell R. Walker, dob: 11/22/1969, Kidnapping in the 2nd Degree, Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 1st Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action as well as Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
According to court records, the defendant committed the crime in broad daylight in front of the store with witnesses. He pointed a gun at an innocent bystander and puled the trigger. Fortunately, the gun didn't fire a bullet.
A Jackson County judge will sentence the defendant on June 13.
Assistant Jackson County Prosecutors Beth Youngworth, Kristiane Bryant and Danielle Sediqzad prosecuted the case on behalf of the state of Missouri.
