The Jackson County Prosecutor's office organized a counseling session today at United Church of Christ, 205 W. 65th Street. Several persons sought counseling, including children. The shootings that marred the Kansas City Chief’s victory parade and rally on Wednesday marred are the type of events that can leave deep emotional trauma for persons involved or persons who witnessed the violence. Family members can also be greatly impacted. The prosecutor’s office has staff trained to engage individuals dealing with such emotional trauma. We also are enlisting other local agencies that provide such counseling. They included Kansas City Mothers In Charge, Ad Hoc Group Against Crime, the Child Protection Center and victim advocates from the prosecutor's office.
The prosecutor's office thanks United Church of Christ, located in Brookside at 205 W. 65th Street, for making space available with little notice. red tomorrow are free and we encourage everyone who needs help to come by for confidential information.
