The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office initiated a Community Advisory Board (CAB) three years ago as part of its new effort to use data to inform new policies and direction. The initial group included neighborhood leaders, former justice-involved individuals, a police officer, and other community representatives.
The board advised the prosecutor’s Crime Strategies Unit, asked questions about criminal justice and prosecutor office’s efforts and offered feedback on how the community views issues and office policies. Often, community board members encourage more messaging to the community about the office’s efforts.
