The driver of a pickup truck that refused to stop for Independence police, eventually ending at Blue Ridge Cut-off and Interstate 70 last night has resulted in multiple criminal charges, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Brandon Hembree, 37, of Warsaw, MO, faces one felony Resisting A Lawful Stop, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident and a misdemeanor count of Driving While Revoked.*
According to court records, an Independence, Mo., officer tried to pull him over near Blue Ridge Cut-off and 40 Highway, but the driver led police a pursuit, running a red light and crashing into a vehicle. The driver and a passenger then attempted to run from police on foot, and Independence and Kansas City officers apprehended them.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $10,000.
