A Kansas City man faces felony charges, including Murder 2nd Degree, for the fatal shooting in February 2023 of a man found later in the area of 35th and Prospect Avenue in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Gonzolo Sago Duvergel faces charges of Murder 2nd Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.*
According to court records, Kansas City police officers responded to the sounds of shots fired and discovered a victim in the street suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries. A witness described seeing the defendant with a gun in his hand after the shooting and concealing it on his body. Detectives obtained surveillance video from a hotel and showed the victim and the defendant, dressed in clothing left at the scene of the murder the same day. Cell phone data also placed the defendant's cell phone in the area of the fatal shooting within minutes of police being called to respond.
